Buro Trinius (Ingenieurbüro Trinius GmbH) was established in January 2000 and works in the field of sustainable construction. The portfolio includes a broad variety of activities, including projects and tasks in research and development, innovation, standardization, education & training and consultancy.

Initially much of our work was directed to the development and establishment of concepts and methodologies enabling an integrated approach to life cycle performance. The goal of most of the activities in which we participated was to bring together the concepts mainly of environmental and economic life cycle assessment. And to integrate these into holistic approaches aiming at sustainable construction.

Coming from R&D, education & training and a deep involvement in international standardization in ISO, Buro Trinius was one of the 15 organizations initiating the formation of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). DGNB was founded in summer 2007, recruting its founding members from a broad pool of architects, planners, product manufacturers, investors as well as scientists. Since the initiation, Buro Trinius has been involved in the development of the DGNB certification and labeling system for sustainable buildings.

The success of DGNB significantly changed the German market for sustainability information about construction products and sustainability assessment of buildings. With this market demand being established, our project and activity portfolio changed to adapt to this new situation.
